Direct Line launched a series of advertisements in 2007 that backed up our feeling about price comparison sites. While they may work for some products and people, our opinion is that they may not always offer the best deal.
In addition to this, we also feel that insurance should not be sold on price alone. At Direct Line we are equally proud of the additional benefits that we offer and the quality of our service as well as our competitive prices. Below are just some of the extra ways in which we offer our car insurance customers a good deal better:
- When your car is sent to one of our approved repairers, all cars are cleaned inside and out before we return them.
- If you're hit by an uninsured driver we'll cover your excess and your No Claims Discount won't be affected. (This is only available for Comprehensive policy holders.
- We have an online route planner and map service that makes it easier to plan your journeys, as well as find maps and places of interest in the UK and Europe.
- We were the first major insurance company in the UK that recognised named drivers' no claims history. If a named driver on your policy takes out their own Direct Line car insurance, we will apply the number of years claim-free driving on your policy to their new one.
- Claim-free driving of a company car can count on a Direct Line policy.
- Our multi-car discount means that you could insure several cars for less with Direct Line.
- Customers who insure more than one car with Direct Line can also take advantage of our breakdown multi-car discount.
- We offer a range of cover including Comprehensive car insurance, Third Party Fire and Theft and Third Party Only. Please call us if you would like a quote for Third Party Only car insurance.
- We include an accident action pack with all our car insurance policies.
- Our 24-hour Accident Helpline and 24-hour Windscreen Helpline offer expert help and advice at any time including if your windscreen is damaged.
- Comprehensive customers can also take advantage of our windscreen repair service.
- Motor legal protection is an option for those who want to ensure they can recover their uninsured losses. (See 'legal protection' for more).
- Our no claims discount is available up to a maximum of five years with 30% after one year, 65% after five years (70% if you're over 50) and the option to protect your no claims discount once you have four years without making any claims with us.
- For an additional premium, you have the option to add a guaranteed hire car to a Comprehensive policy. This provides a replacement car for 14 days if your car is in for repairs.
- Discounts are available for drivers with a Pass Plus certificate, subject to certain conditions – please call us for more information on how to qualify for this discount.
